Tonight, Oct. 17, Tejano Ranch welcomes back Austin’s own A.J. Castillo. The handsome accordionist with the deep voice and scores of loyal fans will be once again bringing his new flavor of Tejano to the north Austin club, and will also be celebrating his birthday.
He may seem young, but he has been around the music scene his entire life, growing up in a musical family along with his talented brother Sergio. Many consider A.J. to be part of the future of Tejano, because of his innovative interpretation of classics as well as some originals, throwing in influences and techniques from other genres, including jazz and hip-hop. His high-energy stage show only adds to his appeal with a younger crowd. A.J.’s newest CD, Sin Limites, is available now.
Long story short: A night of accordion fireworks and hot cumbias, for sure! A younger crowd will pack the dance floor for nearly every song.
Tejano Ranch is located at 7601 North Lamar, just south of Highway 183 in north Austin. The doors open at 8 p.m. The cover charge is $15 all night. 18+ are welcome. Visit the Facebook event page here.
