Cine Las Americas presents young filmmaker competition

April 16, 2009 By Ian Morales

As a celebration of young filmmakers, Cine Las Americas also presents “Emergencia,” a special competitive section to the festival open to filmmakers ages 19 and under.  Each year local high school students help produce Emergencia. The students preview film and video entries received from all around the nation and other countries in response to a call for entries, then decide what films to program during the festival and issue awards for the best work. This year’s work has been selected by students from LBJ High School.
