[3/21] Preview: Movimiento Rockero at Frank

March 19, 2013 By Austin Vida Staff

Local Latin rock collective Movimiento Rockero and Austin Vida are teaming up to bring you the best in local, regional and national Latin rock each month at Frank. This month’s showcase is Thursday night with three of Austin’s most diverse rockeros.

Bringing an Ozo-esque fusion feel to the show is Austin-based Este Vato. Their music blends traditional Latin rhythms with elements of rock, reggae and hip hop. Recent member additions provide live audiences with a much fuller sound than in years past. Look for a big year from the ‘Vatos as they are in the process of recording their first full length album and get their own “Este Vato Day” proclaimed in June. Este Vato perform at 11 p.m. Time to feed the South By hangover with hot dogs and get back to being Austin once again.

Austin-based Vitera may be the only group around that mixes classic ’80s style Rock en Español and modern rock with a violin. Fronted by Movimiento Rockero leader Haydn Vitera, the group’s sound aims to bring back an arena rock feel with a Latin twist for all to enjoy. Vitera is performing in support of their latest album, ¡Súbete! and take the stage at midnight.

Austin-based musician Adrian Archuleta fronts rock band Modern Friend who open at 10 p.m. Frank is located at 4th and Colorado. All ages are welcome. Doors open at 9 p.m. $5 cover at the door or $3 with RSVP on Facebook here.
