It was at Festival Nuevas Bandas in 2006 in front of 6,000 people when the Caracas, Venezuela-based band Viniloversus proved that they weren’t just a group of teenagers messing around, but rather serious musicians. With only five songs, the band made it clear that they were ready to rock and roll as they snatched the victory at the festival. Since then the quartet has performed in various music festivals and impressed international audiences with their brand of modern indie rock, including our staff at South By Southwest in 2009.
Viniloversus recently premiered their latest music video for “Tu Ambición,” (Your Ambition) their second single off their most recent album Cambié de Nombre. The album is the band’s third album and has received two 2012 Latin Grammy nominations for Best Rock Album and Best Recording Package. Written and directed by Daniel Durán, the video was shot in Venezuela and tells the story of an ambitious actress and the extreme measures she is willing to take achieve her goal. The band will be making stops in Maimi, Los Angeles and will be present for the Latin Grammys this year.
