[3/22] Preview: Barrio Bash Vol. II at Spiderhouse Ballroom

March 21, 2013 By Austin Vida Staff

Austin Vida debuted our “Barrio Bash” showcase series last week with a lineup and event that set the precedent for the series. The goal is to not only bring together the best and most diverse Latin bands to the people, but also showcase some of our favorite DJs at the party. If you love Latin music, love to dance or are just looking to experience something different, join us at Spiderhouse Ballroom (formerly 29th Street Ballroom) on Friday night.

Two stages will be utilized for this month’s Barrio Bash, one for the DJs and one for everyone. The Chapel stage outside of the Ballroom stage is where the party starts with DJ Orión and Pagame from Peligrosa spinning from 8-10 p.m. Peligrosa is known for putting an electronic twist on a  wide variety of styles of music from Mexico, South America, Africa and parts of Europe.

While the DJs spin on the Chapel Stage, the live bands in the Ballroom Stage (inside) will begin starting at 9 p.m. with Austin’s biggest Colombian-inspired orkesta, La Frenetika. Austin-based urban Tejano group Son De Rey follow at 10 p.m. while cumbia-fusion band Mazanas Malas keep the party going at 11 p.m. Our boys DJ Orión and Pagame then bring the turntables inside from midnight to 2 a.m. to close the party out. Be ready to hang out and dance all night for this one.

Spiderhouse Ballroom is located at 2906 Fruth Street. Doors open at 8 p.m. All ages are welcome. $7 cover for 21+. $10 for minors. Show your student I.D. at the door for reduced cover. Free parking. RSVP on Facebook here for your chance to win tickets to this year’s Pachanga Latino Music Fest.
