Wednesday July 3, Tejano Ranch welcomes back one of the most popular performers in Texas music history. “El Rey Del Acordeón” Ramon Ayala y Sus Bravos Del Norte, will delight the crowd with a pre-Fourth of July celebration at the north Austin club.
After beginning his career in the early 1960s with Cornelio Reyna as Los Relampagos Del Norte, the Mexican superstar is almost a genre unto himself, having enjoyed unrivaled success in Conjunto and Tejano and virtually defining the Norteño genre. After scoring hit after hit with Reyna, Ayala went on to form his current band, Ramon Ayala y Sus Bravos Del Norte, in the 1970s. His string of hits include classics like “Ya No Llores,” “Hay Ojitos,” “Un Rinconcito En El Cielo,” “Amor de Juventud,” “Tragos Amargos,” and many, many more. His songs are essential for every Tejano radio station and DJ.
Long story short: A great show, bar none. Ramon can fill stadiums, so seeing him at a smaller venue will offer an intimacy that longtime fans will enjoy. And he doesn’t come to town very often, so expect a packed club.
Tejano Ranch is located at 7601 North Lamar, just south of Highway 183 in north Austin. The doors open at 8 p.m. The cover charge is $15 before 10 p.m, and $20 after 10 p.m. 18+ are welcome. View the Facebook event here.
