Silvana Kane releases her new video from her debut album La Jardinera, out now on Six Degrees Records.  La Jardinera, the solo debut from Silvana Kane, best known as the vocalist with acclaimed, Juno nominated, Global Pop ensemble Pacifika, is the singer’s most personal effort to date. Comprised predominantly of cover songs by her favorite Latin American singers and composers—including Chabuca Granda, Mercedes Sosa and Violeta Parra—Kane has transformed songs of revolt and love into an exquisite collection of stunning ballads.

Silvana enthusiastically states about her new video, “La Jardinera” is the title track from Silvana Kane’s debut album, a song about healing a broken heart by tending to the Earth.  For this video, she spent the afternoon walking through the woods behind her house, enjoying the magical rays of sun, and singing to the forest.

Alex Cuba to release ‘Ruido En El Sistema’ in October

August 30, 2012 By Austin Vida Staff

Cuban born and Smithers B.C.-based singer-songwriter Alex Cuba got an early start in music. At just four years of age, he was already performing in his father’s band. Later, keeping it in the family, Cuba and his twin brother started The Puentes Brothers. Although they were playing traditional Cuban music, it just wasn’t for him. Straying from traditional Cuban sounds, Cuba created his own style where he fused elements of funk, pop and rock with Spanish lyrics. Cuba refers to it as “Latin soul.”

Following the success of his previous self-titled album, which won a Latin Grammy for Best New Artist and received a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album, Cuba is ready to release a new album in October. Titled Ruido En El Sistema, the album will be released through his own Caracol Records label. For Ruido En El Sistema, Cuba reconnected with Joby Baker who produced Cuba’s previous two albums. Baker recorded some of the album in his studio in Canada while the rest was recorded in Cuba. The album also features Nelly Furtado on the song “Nadie Como Tu.”
