Nacional Records announces debut release from Jungle Fire

July 28, 2014 By Austin Vida Staff

TropicosoNorth Hollywood-based Latin Alternative label Nacional Records announced this week that they will release Tropicoso from Jungle Fire. Set for a Sept. 30 release, Tropicoso will be the debut full-length album from the Los Angeles-based Afro-Latin funk band. If you are fan of Austin-based funksters Brownout, Cilantro Boombox or Hard Proof Afrobeat, then you will love Jungle Fire.

Jungle Fire originally began as a one-off project in 2011. Their music combines elements of cumbia, Afrobeat and traditional old-school funk and rock. In 2011, Ohio-based label Colemine Records released the group’s first 7” single “Comencemos” (a cover of Fela Kuti’s “Let’s Start”). Shortly after that sold out, Jungle Fire released a second 7” via Colemine for their single “Firewalker.”
