[2/7] Preview: Grupo Stampede at the Moose Lodge

Saturday, Feb. 7, Tejano returns to the Moose! DFW-based sextet Grupo Stampede will come rolling into town, ready to rock the eastside dancehall with their high-energy show.

Since forming in the mid-1990s, Grupo Stampede has straddled the line between Tejano and Norteño, and is often put in the same category as other groups like Siggno and Intocable. The group plays originals, breathes new life into covers, and defines its sound by building on the classic Tejano formula with strong lead electric guitar, keyboards, and powerful vocals by charismatic frontman Alex De Leon.

Long story short: Stampede is known for their stage show and has enjoyed a growing fan base here in town. Another good time at the Moose!

The Moose Lodge is located at 2103 E.M. Franklin Avenue, north of MLK and east of Airport Boulevard in East Austin. $10 cover all night long. All ages are welcome. Doors open at 7 p.m.

[5/23] Preview: Elias Arredondo with Grupo Stampede at Tejano Ranch

stampedeTonight Memorial Day weekend kicks off with another Totally Tejano Friday, with Elias Arredondo and Grupo Stampede taking the stage at Tejano Ranch. The double bill should delight fans, with the high-energy DFW-based sextet returning to the north Austin Tejano club with a growing fan base and Elias making his Austin debut since going solo.

Since forming in the mid-1990s, Grupo Stampede has straddled the line between Tejano and Norteño, and is often put in the same category as other groups like Siggno and Intocable. The group plays originals, breathes new life into covers, and defines its sound by building on the classic Tejano formula with strong lead electric guitar, keyboards, and powerful vocals by charismatic frontman Alex De Leon.

Elias Arredondo has embarked on a solo career after spending a few years as lead singer for the Hometown Boys. Based in Fort Worth, Elias recorded and released his first album, Por Fin, in 2013 and just debuted his latest single, “Fruta Prohibida,” earlier this year. Like Stampede, Elias is able to sing Tejano, Conjunto, and Norteño, and can shift effortlessly between the different styles. A natural front man, he is an engaging performer who easily connects with fans.

Long story short: Stampede is known for their stage show, so there will be plenty of entertainment on-stage and on the dance floor. Elias has great stage presence and truly enjoys entertaining and singing his heart out.

Saturday June 22, Grupo Stampede takes the stage at the Texas Club Bar and Grill. The high-energy DFW-based sextet will return to town at the southeast Austin Tejano club with a growing fan base, thanks to previous well-received performances at Texas Mist and Tejano Ranch.
