Latinitas will be holding their 10th Annual Foto de Mi Alma Photography Auction event on May 16 to honor film producer and Spy Kids movie franchise creator Elizabeth Avellán. The silent auction event will be hosted by emcee Sandy Avila of The Latino Comedy Project.
Works that will be sold in this auction include donated works from contemporary photographers in Latin America, Iran, and the U.S. such as from local photo artist Skip Hunt as well as works from internationally acclaimed Dulce Pinzón. Latinitas Teen Photography will also be for sale at the event with proceeds going towards the Latinitas’ 30 after school programs, free Saturday classes and week-long camps. The event will also include Hennessey and Moet sponsored drinks and entertainment by DJ Mahealani.
The 10th Annual Latinitas Fotos de Mi Alma Photography Auction will be held at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center located at 600 River Street from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are available on Ticketbud for $20 and $25 at the door. Latinitas is a nonprofit that started in 2002 as a bilingual magazine to empower young Latinas through media and technology. They have created various after school programs, internships, summer camps and e-zine as well. They will be celebrating their success over the past decade during the auction event and announce the magazine’s next print issue.
