The Texas Performing Arts’ ArtesAméricas program presents the U.S. premiere of Piazzolla Project on Sept. 18 at the Bass Concert Hall. Presented in partnership with Teresa Lozano Long Institute for Latin American Studies, the event celebrates the works of renowned Argentine tango composer and bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla.
The Piazzolla Project pays tribute to the 21st anniversary of Astor Piazzolla’s passing. His artistic talents innovated the tango tradition. As an appreciation of his work, two of the most renowned ensembles that have been influenced and inspired by Piazolla’s work, La Camorra and Escalandrum, will collaborate to bring a fun-filled and inspirational night at Bass Concert Hall. Their music will honor Piazzolla and his influential work as they use their own flair for the U.S. premiere.
The event will also include stage seating, which will allow the audience to get a more intimate experience and unique connection with the music and artists. The event begins at 8:30 pm. The Bass Concert Hall located at 2350 Robert Dedman Dr. Tickets range from $27-42. A limited student discount ticket will be available for $10. Senior citizens, Military and UT faculty and staff are also eligible for discounts. For additional updates visit the Texas Performing Arts website.
