Empresarios release new remix for “La Secretaria”

February 12, 2013 By Austin Vida Staff

Washington D.C.-based Tropicaliente group Empresarios releases new track “Secretaria (Empresarios Dubplate Especial).” This new track is a remix of classic hit “La Secretaria,” originally made popular by Salvadorian cumbia ensemble Los Hermanos Flores almost 30 years ago. With this new remix, the Empresarios hope to turn this traditional cumbia into a more modern version to introduce to new listeners and drag their attention to the original hit.

Empresarios signature dance-party sound with loud horns and percussion is the result of mixing some classic Latin grooves. Their title of “Kings of Tropicaliente” – a Caribbean music style- comes from each one of the band members combining salsa, dub, cumbia, house and reggae to form their very unique style. Their most recent album El Sonido Mágico was released in November of last year. This album features songs “Salsa de Gala,” “Volume” and “7th Street Groove,” among others. As always, you can be sure the Empresarios will make you want to stand up and dance.

Led by Javier Miranda, the Empresarios mix a blend of Latin beats that culminate into an explosion of tropical rhythms guaranteed to start a party. The Washington D.C.-based band incorporates salsa, cumbia, house and reggae to achieve their own “tropicaliente” sound as each DJ adds their own creativity to the mix. Their album title track “Sabor Tropical” has even been featured on EA Sports’ FIFA 2012 video game.

Less than two years ago the Empresarios hit the road, starting parties here and there in support of their debut album. Now, the party gets revamped with the upcoming release of their sophomore album, El Sonido Mágico, due November 13 via Fort Knox Recordings. The 13-track album includes their signature “tropicaliente” style with plenty of horns, percussion and melodica while featuring the voices of Frankie Rosado and Felix Perez.  The track “Volume” heats things up with Latin disco house while “Quinto Nivel” steps it up with electro-cumbia and “Rompan Fila” brings it back down with its reggae beats.

The Washington D.C based Latin-funk band, the Empresarios, know just the right rhythms to get a party started. Led by Javier Miranda, the band embraces Caribbean beats and mixes them with dub, reggae, funk and house to create their “tropicaliente” sound that’s filled with the creativity of each DJ in the group to make a fusion that can make anyone start dancing.

While the Empresarios get ready to release their second studio album, they’re filling the summer void with their recently released EP, Volume, featuring four new tracks with instrumental versions. The opening song includes the collaboration with Australian producer Omegaman resulting in “Para Mis Amigos,” a Latin funk song that’s heavy on the horns and includes breakbeats and congas. While the first track starts the party, the last one, ”Estereolismo,” brings it back down with soothing percussions, the guitar and funky horns.
