Vega releases music video for “Que no te pese” ft. Carla Morrison

Vega Carla MorrisonInternational Spanish folk-pop star Vega released her new music video for her single “Que no te pese.” The single features Mexico’s favorite indie darling Carla Morrison and can be found on iTunes here. Recorded on location in Mexico, the video shows the great complicity of both artists during the filming of it.

Spain-native Mercedes Mígel Carpio is from the south of Spain, from Cordoba. She was in Austin for SXSW in 2014, promoting her fifth studio album, Wolverines. In 2012 Vega was nominated for “Best Pop/Rock Album” for her album La Cuenta Atras.

Austin Ticket Giveaway: Carla Morrison at Empire Control Room & Garage

Carla Morrison Oct 2 Small WebHeard Entertainment and Austin Vida present Déjenme Llorar, a night celebrating the passionate, serendipitous Latin soul of Latin Grammy winner Carla Morrison at Empire Garage on Wednesday night, Oct. 2. This concert is also serving as showcase of sort for her new company, Pan Dulce Productions. This special evening, like its namesake album, is sure to enrapture Morrison’s fans here in Austin all over again.

Co-headlining the concert will be Argentinian indie-pop artist Sol Pereryra. Although relatively unknown in the US, Pereryra is a veteran in the Latin Alternative music scene. In 2001 Sol formed popular Argentinian indie band Los Cocineros, which recorded 7 albums. Pereryra is a composer and a multi-instrumentalist playing the trumpet, guitar, the Venezuelan cuatro, ukulele, percussion, and vocals) all of which you can hear on her 2nd album, Comunmixta. In 2008 Pereryra became a member of Grammy winner Julieta Venegas’ band and performed on her critically acclaimed MTV Unplugged album.

Also Joining Morrison for the concert will be Mexico City-based singer-songwriter (by way of Tijuana) and member of the Pan Dulce Productions family, Jandro. Aside from being a solo artist himself, Jandro was also part of the winning team that created Morrison’s 2-time Latin GRAMMY winning album and title track (as a recording engineer) for Déjenme Llorar (2012).

Austin-based bilingual folkera Gina Chavez opens the show. The best part? We have two tickets to giveaway to one of our lucky Austin Vida readers.

Austin Ticket Giveaway: Carla Morrison at The Belmont

Latin Grammy award winner Carla Morrison is one of the freshest new voices from Mexico since the likes of Julietta Venegas and Natalia Lafourcade, who also produced her album Mientras Tú Dormías. Born in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, the singer-songwriter represents what may be the future of Mexico’s indie music scene. Her live act has garnered high praises from tastemakers in both Mexico and the U.S. and includes covers of the classic Ramon Ayala ranchera lament “Tragos Amargo Licor” and the tragic ballad “Paloma Negra.”

On Sunday, May 26, Morrison will be performing a headlining concert in Austin at The Belmont in support of her latest album, Dejenme Llorar. Joining Morrison as co-headliner will be Girl In A Coma frontwoman Nina Diaz. Austin-based singer-songwriter Gina Chavez will open the show. The best part? Pachanga Latino Music Festival announces full lineup and schedule updates

Pachanga Latino Music Festival is proud to announce its full lineup schedule for May 10 & 11.

Good news and bad news today out from the folks at Pachanga Latino Music Festival. The good news is the full lineup schedule was announced for May 10 and 11 with Intocable headlining Friday supported by 3Ball MTY and Austin-based Este Vato opening. As previously announced, East L.A. legends Los Lobos and Monterrey fusion master Celso Piña are scheduled to close out Saturday.

Unfortunately there is some disappointing news for those with tickets to the fest. Contemporary rock ensemble and EMI recording artist Enjambre is no longer on the lineup as originally announced. Those hoping to see Mexican singer-songwriter Carla Morrison at Pachanga will be disappointed. The Latin Grammy winner is no longer on the Pachanga Festival lineup. Fear not Austin, as Morrison is now scheduled to perform at a special “Pachanga Presents” performance at The Belmont with Nina Diaz of Girl in a Coma and Gina Chavez on Sunday, May 26. Tickets are $16.50 and will go on sale Friday, April 26 at 10 a.m.
