Tonight Austin-based Latin fusion band El Tule will celebrate the release of their new album, Cuatro, at One-2-One Bar. The supporting lineup includes Austin-based cumbia-fusionists Como Las Movies and up-and-comers Organizacion Kumbiambera. Two Austin radio personalities, Vanessa Burden from KOOP and Michael Crockett of KUTX, will be spinning under the DJ monikers throughout the night as well.
Two years in the making, Cuatro is their fourth independently produced album and first with newly launched Hecho In Austin Records. According to the group’s Facebook event page, the band worked with Gil Gonzalez (Genitallica, Brown Sabbath) and Beto Martinez (Grupo Fantasma, Brownout) at Leche House Studios for part of the album. According to the band, Cuatro features original cumbia, salsa, Latin funk and psychedelic chicha. Copies of Cuatro will be available for purchase at the show and soon from the band’s online outlets.
Early attendees will be treated to the viewing of El Tule’s new music video for their single “Mira Como Baila.” The viewing will be followed by a mini Salsa Rueda style class by Salsa Candela. No partner is required.
