Friday, Apr. 3, the fun continues at Desperados in Kyle with David Farias y Los Hermanos Farias. The San Antonio conjunto powerhouse will make their debut at the the new club, which has grown by leaps and bounds already this year by booking some of the biggest acts in Tejano music.
The Farias name should be familiar to Tejano fans as the supergroup, La Tropa F. Accordion master David Farias is also known for his work (and Grammy win for Best Tejano Album) with Max Baca and Los Texmaniacs, along with a successful solo career and 2012 reunion with brothers Joe and Juan as Los Hermanos Farias. Their album, Back on Track, was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Tejano Album and featured the hardcore conjunto the brothers started out playing over three decades ago.
Long story short: I keep hearing great things about his place and Farias is a master at keeping the dance floor packed. Strong vocals, acrobatic accordion. It’ll be a classic cowboy hat, Wranglers and boots kind of Tejano night.
