Wednesday and Thursday, Mar. 18 and 19, music fans are invited to something different from the usual South by Southwest fare at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican-American Cultural Center. The annual Mexican American Experience, presented by Crossroads Events, is a family-friendly event that will feature performances from Grammy Award-winning legendary, veteran, and up-and-coming artists.
Wednesday features a strong horn-driven lineup with San Antonio favorite son Sunny Ozuna, Latin Express from DFW, along with Austin acts Cañonazo, the recently-reunited Street People, and Mariachi Amor.
Thursday will include plenty of accordion-flavored Tejano with San Antonio’s Chente Barrera, Waxahachie-based Conjunto Baraja de Oro, Austin’s own Beyond Therapy, Grupo Llueve from Edinburg and Tejano Idol winner Erica Rangel.
Long story short: A taste of Tejano, Conjunto, and more from some of the best in the business during one of the biggest music festivals in the world.
The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican-American Cultural Center is located at 600 River Street on the banks of Lady Bird Lake, south of Cesar Chavez and west of I-35 in downtown Austin. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and music starts at 6:00 p.m. each day. Admission is free and all ages are welcome. Lawn chairs are encouraged but ice chests are prohibited.
