Friday May 2, Totally Tejano Fridays continue with La Fiebre at Tejano Ranch. The veteran Houston-area Tejano show band returns to the Live Music Capital with its ’90s-flavored hits, new material, and a new singer.
La Fiebre began in the late ’80s, scoring hits, earning a following, and making a name for themselves with their big-time stage show and youthful attitude. The band struck gold with the single “Borracho de Besos” in 1989, a song with remains a favorite at Tejano clubs and events everywhere. Amidst personnel changes, the guys continued to record and tour throughout the ’90s and even scored a Grammy Award nomination in 1998 in the Best Tejano Album category for their Fiebre Live…En Concierto! album. In 2013, founding member and lead singer Pete Espinoza left the band for health reasons, and was replaced by new singer J. Angel Cantu.
Long story short: Solid ’90s-era Tejano group with a sound similar to La Mafia or La Sombra and is excited about a new voice and renewed energy.
