Wednesday, June 5, Susan Torres y Conjunto Clemencia begin their Wednesday night residence at Little Mexico Restaurant. The south Austin eatery is known for its support of local conjunto and mariachi music, which enhances to the cozy atmosphere, cold beer, and good food.
The quartet features personnel from Los Pinkys, whose Sunday tardeadas at the White Horse have helped Conjunto find a new group of fans: Clemencia Zapata (drums and vocals), Bradley Jaye Williams (bajo quinto, accordion and vocals), and Javier Cruz (bass). The ever-ebullient Susan Torres tears it up on squeezebox and vocals. Aside from being top-notch musicians, the group has a lot of fun on stage and clearly LOVES conjunto, and loves spreading its gospel to music lovers of all backgrounds.
Long story short: This is a show that will satisfy the longtime conjunto fans and those yearning for something new, different, passionate, and authentic. Oh yeah…don’t forget your dancing shoes!
Little Mexico is located at 2304 South First Street, just north of Oltorf. The show starts at 7 p.m., and there is no cover charge. All ages are welcome. View the Facebook event here.
