Good news for fans of Thievery Corporation today as Brooklyn-based Latin Alternative/dub artist Natalia Clavier signed to Nacional Records and announced the release date of her upcoming new album Lumen. Due out on May 28, Lumen was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Adrian Quesada of Austin bands Grupo Fantasma, Brownout and Money Chicha. Word on the street says this album will be filled with soft electronic vibes and jazzy sounds, which means fans should expect the same sound and quality from Natalia as before.
For those that don’t know, Argentinian-born Clavier has a very distinct style. While incorporating elements of house and dub, most of her songs have a very soft and even romantic sound. Before starting her career as a solo artist, Clavier was known as the voice of Thievery Corporation, a Washington, D.C-based electronic-fusion band. With Thievery was where Clavier was used to singing in languages other than Spanish. It wasn’t until she started working on her solo debut album Nectar that Clavier started singing in her native tongue –Spanish. Clavier still tours with Thievery Corporation up to this day, as well as with her husband and fellow musician Federico Aubele.
