Latin Grammy award winning band Bajofondo released their new music video for “Pide Piso,” the lead single of their upcoming album Presente, out on Mar. 5 through Sony Masterworks. “Pide Piso” tells a romance based on the heart of Latin America through an 80’s 8-bit video game. This animated video, directed by Bajofondo’s founder Gustavo Santaolalla, makes allusion to Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker, Gene Kelly’s Singing in the Rain, and even Gangnam Style! This dynamic story for their new track makes of this a very entertaining video to watch.
The eight-member group Bajofondo, originally founded by multi-award-winner Gustavo Santaolalla, has been around for about 10 years now. The group’s electrotango fusion sound comes from its members Argentinian-Uruguayian backgrounds. In 2003, their debut album Bajofondo Tango Club got them a Latin Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album. Bajofondo has performed next to stars like Elvis Costello, Julieta Venegas, and Nelly Furtado, among others. They have performed on stages all over the world, including Brazil, Portugal, Singapore and the U.S. This year they will be coming to Austin to perform at three showcases during South by Southwest.
