Latin Grammy award winner Carla Morrison is one of the freshest new voices from Mexico since the likes of Julietta Venegas and Natalia Lafourcade, who also produced her album Mientras Tú Dormías. Born in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, the singer-songwriter represents what may be the future of Mexico’s indie music scene. Her live act has garnered high praises from tastemakers in both Mexico and the U.S. and includes covers of the classic Ramon Ayala ranchera lament “Tragos Amargo Licor” and the tragic ballad “Paloma Negra.”
On Sunday, May 26, Morrison will be performing a headlining concert in Austin at The Belmont in support of her latest album, Dejenme Llorar. Joining Morrison as co-headliner will be Girl In A Coma frontwoman Nina Diaz. Austin-based singer-songwriter Gina Chavez will open the show. The best part? We have two tickets to give away to one of our lucky Austin Vida readers.
