Austin-based funkeros Brownout are doing it big tonight at Frank as part of their September residency at the local hot-doggery. For the past two performances this month at Frank, the group paid tribute to James Brown and hosted an Austin style hip-hop throw down. Tonight the funksters kick it old school as they pay tribute to one of the most iconic hip-hop movies of all time, Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo.
As the group indicated on their Facebook page, tonight they will be playing old school hip-hop classics for the “B-Boys and B-girls,” or break dancers for those who don’t speak the language. The set list will include covers of Grand Master Flash, The Sugar Hill Gang, Blackbyrds and more. DJ Mahealani will spin before and in-between sets.
Frank is located at 4th and Colorado. Doors open at 10 p.m. Show starts at 10:30 p.m. DJ Mahealani will spin before and in-between sets. All ages are welcome. $10 cover. Visit the Facebook event page here.
