Tonight Austin’s Tejano community will honor another one of their own that left them too soon. Friends and family will come together for a benefit for Armando “Kido” Alba, in another all-star show, this time at the Austin Moose Lodge on the east side.
Alba was a well-respected and talented drummer, recognized by the Austin Latino Music Association for his contributions to Tejano music in Austin. After starting his career with Dave Gutierrez y Su Orquesta, Alba performed and recorded with such legends like Sunny Ozuna, Little Joe y La Familia, Roy Montelongo, Alfonso Ramos, Manuel Donley, Yayo Castillo y Rumores, and more. Augustin Ramirez and Joe Bravo, with whom Alba also played, are scheduled to perform at the benefit as well.
Long story short: A great lineup, including the legendary West Side Horns all the way from San Antonio, celebrating the life of a good friend and musical brother. Well worth the cover and donation.
While the lineup may be subject to change, here is the lineup of scheduled performers:
Augustin Ramirez
Joe Bravo
Ruben Ramos
Gilbert Alba
West Side Horns (from San Antonio)
Los Texas Wranglers
Johnny Degollado y Su Conjunto
Bueña Compaña
The Moose Lodge is located at 2103 E.M. Franklin Avenue, north of MLK and east of Airport Boulevard in East Austin. Tickets are $10 at the door. All ages are welcome. Music starts at 8 p.m.
