Saturday evening, April 20, Threadgill’s South hosts Squeezebox Mania. Now in its seventh year, the annual showcase, presented by Texas music power couple Joel Guzman and Sarah Fox, definitely lives up to its name, bringing fans an evening with legendary accordionists from various genres and an all-star accordion jam session.
Scheduled to perform are Texas Tornado Augie Meyers, Austin’s own “Montopolis Kid” Johnny Degollado y Su Conjunto, Russian folk specialists the Flying Balalaika Brothers, Eurojazz artists Rumbullion, Zydecowgirl Debra Peters, and the multi-talented and award-winning Joel Guzman and Sarah Fox.
Long story short: With everything from country to blues to Russian folk to jazz to conjunto and Tejano, accordion lovers will be in heaven.
Threadgill’s South is located at the south corner of Riverside and Barton Springs. Doors open at 7 p.m., music from 8 to 11 p.m., all ages are welcome. Tickets are $15. For more information, visit the Facebook event here.
