Tonight Flamingo Cantina plays host to not only the best concert bill in town but also is providing their venue as the place to support Stand Up For Kids, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1990 to help rescue homeless and at-risk youth. In addition to a concert stacked with a great lineup that features Miami Latino fusion act Locos Por Juana, there will be an art walk upstairs by street artists SPARTX.COM.
Grammy nominated Locos Por Juana are one of the most recognized bilingual bands due to their explosive mixture of rhythms from rock to reggae, funk, hip-hop, electronic and cumbia. Currently the band is comprised of Itagüí Correa (vocals), Mark Kondrat (guitar), and Javier Delgado (drums). The band is currently on tour in Texas in support of their fifth studio album, Somos De La Calle, which was released through their own label, La Juana Music.
Be sure to show up early as Austin-based Latin-pop group Manzanas Malas featuring front woman Victoria Acosta of recent American Idol fame perform.Corpus Cristi soul band Latasha Lee & The Black Ties are also on the bill. Listen to Lee’s voice and you’ll understand the Amy Whinehouse comparisons. La Frenetika and DJ Rapid Ric round out the bill.
