The same week that Austin has South by Southwest (SXSW), San Antonio has Fan Fair. Taking place March 14-17, and presented by the Tejano Music Awards, Fan Fair has much of the same ideas as SXSW: multiple stages, scores of up and coming bands, along with some legends, and a multi-day music bender where Tejano fans descend on San Antonio from all parts of the country.
Also similar to SXSW, Fan Fair takes over the Market Square section of San Antonio. Thousands of people pour into the streets to discover new talent and to hear their favorites as well. The artists mingle with the crowd, and have plenty of merchandise available.
Unlike SXSW, however, no wristbands are required, and the event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome.
