[11/26] Preview: ATX Flood Relief at The Parish

November 26, 2013 By Austin Vida Staff

benefitTonight local efforts to raise funds for those affected by the Austin Halloween floods will continue with a benefit concert at The Parish. Performers include an eclectic showcase of Latino talent ranging from indie to salsa. Performers include Ricky Zuela, The Dirty Heat, Lil T, The Sun Machine, Migrant Kids and La Vida Buena.

The 2013 Halloween floods resulted in the destruction of homes and property of over 1500 Austinites, hundreds of families displaced, and the official declaration of a state of disaster by Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell.

“When you think about the number of Austinites affected by the flooding, most of them born, raised and living their entire lives here, it’s hard to watch the news and do nothing,“ said Austin rapper Lil T. “Performing at this show is the right thing to do, it’s going to bring much needed support back to a community that so desperately needs it.”

The Parish is located at 214 E. 6th Street. Doors open at 8 p.m. All ages welcome. $7 cover. Proceeds from the show will benefit United Way for Greater Austin; those funds will be turned over to affected members the Dove Springs and affected communities specifically.
