No one in popular American music has recorded for so long and at such a high level of excellence than Tony Bennett. With a rich music history and more than six decades of experience, Bennett is still going strong at the sweet age of 86. He began singing for his family as a young boy and from there that set the path for what is now a 17-time Grammy award winning career. Bennett’s albums have charted every decade since the ‘50s.
It’s certainly not an easy feat to surpass the success Bennett’s two Duets albums, both having gone platinum and receiving multiple Grammy awards, but he’s at it again. His third duet album, Tony Bennett: Viva Duets, is set to drop on Oct. 23 via Columbia Records. So far, the list of his duet partners doesn’t fall short of expectations. Bennett performs just a few of his hits with Latin stars such as Marc Anthony, Chayanne, Thalía, Franco DeVita, and Gloria Estefan among others. Recorded in cities as far from each other as New York, Fort Lauderdale and even at Vicente Fernandez’s ranch in Guadalajara, Mexico, the album features performances in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
