Listen: “El Rapidol” by Very Be Careful

Fifteen years ago, Very Be Careful was on a mission to play only accordion based vallenato, and it was a success. With their music, tapping feet turn into a raucous dance party. But it’s not just vallenato, it’s vallenato with Very Be Careful style. Though they respect the traditional Afro-Colombian characteristics, their music adds a little twist to vallenato roots with high doses of punk. The Los Angeles-based quintet has toured in Japan, the United Kingdom and they have even performed in Austin for South By Southwest.

Inspired by animals, party animals, party monsters, some Speedy Gonzalez and even the Three Stooges, Very Be Careful is back with their sixth studio album, ¿Remember Me From The Party?, via Downtown Pijao. The 12-track album features five covers of classic Colombian vallenatos along with seven original compositions such as “El Mosquito” and “El Revuelto.”
