Brazilian psych-rockers Os Mutantes formed in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1966 by 2 brothers Arnaldo Baptista (bass, keyboards and vocals) and Sérgio Dias Baptista (guitar and vocals) and lead singer Rita Lee. The band have been credited with pioneering Tropicália, a music movement from the 1960s that incorporates art forms such as theatre and poetry. The Braileros garnered new found fame stateside when popular mainstream alt-rock acts such as Courtney Love and Beck cited them as major influences.
On Tuesday, November 27, Os Mutantes will be performing a headlining show in Austin at Mohawk. Brooklyn garage rockers Writer co-headline and Adrian Quesada (Grupo Fantasma, Brownout, etc) will be spinning throughout the night on the outdoor stage. The best part?
