If you’re looking for great world, Latin and reggae music, Flamingo Cantina is where you want to be tonight. El Paso-based Radio La Chusma return to Austin to perform with Austin reggae band Don Chani.
Radio La Chusma is Latin fusion band that combines reggae with traditional Latin rhythms of the Caribbean and South America. Throw in four part harmonies, violin and guitar solos and you have the sound of Radio La Chusma. Currently, the band is in the studio working on their new full-length album and a soundtrack for a movie based on the border. Radio La Chusma performs at 10:30 p.m.
Headliner’s Don Chani are an Austin staple and have made the Flamingo Cantina their home venue over the past few years. Fronted by Erick Bohorquez, the group draws influence from the late ’60s era reggae. For tonight’s show Don Chani will be joined by guest musicians Micah Shalom on trumpet and Zumbi on trombone. Currently performing in support of their album From The Hilltops, Don Chani take the stage at midnight.
