Los Angeles-based Latin roots band La Santa Cecilia (LSC) was an absolute show stealer at this year’s Pachanga Latino Music Festival in May. Fronted by the dynamic “La Marisoul,” LSC bring together traditional Mexican folk music with Latin soul you can dance to. Think Linda Ronstadt singing for the Texas Tornados. That’s LSC.
The good news for fans is that LSC announced three upcoming shows here in Austin, starting with a headlining show at Flamingo Cantina on Thursday, August 16. The other two LSC Austin tour stops will be in October at Stubb’s as the opening act for popular singer-songwriter Ryan Bingham.
LSC share the bill Thursday night with one-man band extraordinaire Henry & The Invisibles. The high energy funk project is the product of singer and composer Henry Roland. Roland records live loops using his vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, bass, keyboards, drums, percussion and other random objects such as coffee cans, chairs and water jugs to create music that sounds like it is coming from a full band. It is quite the marvel to watch.
Flamingo Cantina is located at 515 E. 6th Street. 21+ are welcome. Doors open at 9 p.m. $7 cover at the door. Visit the event page on Facebook here.
