This Friday at Frank, home to the delicious artisan sausage and live local music, two of our favorite Austin-based bands are bringing down the house reggae-cumbia estyle. Este Vato and El Tule, both what we classify or label “Latin fusion” bands, blend elements of multiple musical genres with traditional Latin rhythms. Both will keep you dancing.
Este Vato is Austin’s answer to bands like Ozomatli or Locos Por Juana. The group brings polish to a fusion of edgy music genres like rock, hip hop and street-style cumbia. Este Vato is currently performing in support of their latest release, The Morningside EP. Este Vato perform at 10:30 p.m.
At first glance, El Tule do not appear to be a Latin music band. Why is that you ask? El Tule is fronted by John Dell (guitar/lead vocals) and a multicultural mix of musicians both Latino and non. But yes, all vocals are en Español. Enjoy Latin rhythms from El Tule at 11:30 p.m.
Frank is located at 407 Colorado St. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. All ages are welcome. $6 cover. Visit the Facebook event page here and on Do512 here.
