Catching live music in Austin can be hard sometimes when the band you want see plays at midnight and you have to be awake and getting ready for work a few hours later.
Luckily, the City of Austin hosts local bands at its own events during more reasonable hours. One such event is the free Music in the Parks series. On Wednesday afternoon, two Austin Vida showcase alumni will be playing at Dove Springs Recreation Center in southeast Austin.
Urban Latin orchestra Son de Rey will bring a blend of Tejano, salsa and cumbia to the stage. And La Guerrilla will bring a fusion of reggae, gypsy rock, acoustic folk and Latin rhythms. Both of these bands offer totally different sounds and styles, but they both share a feelgood, party vibe. It should be a fun show, so bring your dancing shoes.
The show is free and open to the public. It goes from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 at Dove Springs Recreation Center, located at 5801 Ainez Dr.
