Mexican singer-songwriter and Latin Grammy winner Lila Downs is arguably one of the best performers in the world. Her music brings out the spirit of her indigenous Mexican heritage all while being able to reach and win over music lovers of all backgrounds. Her latest album, Pecados Y Milagros, is yet another gem in her already excellent catalog of work.
Downs will be in Austin this week for South By Southwest. On Tuesday, March 13, Downs will be performing an intimate charity event at Malverde. The event will be held during the day from 2:00-5:00pm. Tickets are $40 and will go to benefit schools in Mexico (see below). Ticket prices include a reception with Lila Downs, Q&A, autographs, appetizers from La Condesa and Wahaka mezcal tasting.
The schools which Downs will be raising money for are in San Dionisio Ocotepec, Oaxaca (where Wahaka mescal is made) are in dire need of some resources. Proceeds would go to the following schools: Escuela primaria TIERRA Y LIBERTAD, Escuela telesecundaria and Escuela primaria bilingüe.
