Tuesday, December 18, the Scoot Inn welcomes Susan Torres y Conjunto Clemencia as part of its Tecate Tuesday series. Following the smashing success of the Sunday Tex-Mex Tardeada with Los Pinkys and Friends at The White Horse, another east side honky tonk, it’s good to see Conjunto beginning to get a foothold here in the Live Music Capital.
Susan Torres y Conjunto Clemencia features personnel from Los Pinkys…Clemencia Zapata (drums and vocals), Bradley Jaye Williams (bajo quinto, accordion and vocals), and Javier Cruz (bass). On the squeezebox and vocals is the ever-ebullient Susan Torres. Aside from being top-notch musicians, the group has a lot of fun on stage and clearly LOVES Conjunto, and loves spreading its gospel to music lovers of all backgrounds. They are also gaining notoriety outside of Austin with performances at this year’s Tejano-Conjunto Festival in San Antonio and even traveled all the way to Birmingham, Alabama for a Día De Los Muertos celebration last month.
Long story short: This is a show that will satisfy the longtime Conjunto fans and those yearning for something new, different, passionate, and authentic. Oh yeah…don’t forget your dancing shoes!
The Scoot Inn is located at 1308 E. 4th St, near 4th and Navasota streets. Music starts at 7 p.m. No cover. 21+ are welcome. View the Facebook event here.
