Preview: Pop Pistol at Trophy’s

July 21, 2011 By Austin Vida Staff

Pop Pistol is a San Antonio based indie trio that you probably haven’t heard of yet, but you will soon. Their music is a blend of atmospheric indie rock, electronic and Britpop. They certainly aren’t what most would expect from three young Latino musicians from the Alamo City, but we’re sure the same was once said about Girl In A Coma.

Coming from a city known more for hardcore music or big Latin party bands (Bombasta, Pinata Protest, etc), it is easy to see why the group is ready to start making a name for themselves in Austin. Austin has a thriving indie scene and is always hungry for the next big thing. With two EPs and a stellar full-length album, Pop Pistol has plenty of arsenal in their catalog to win over even the most discriminating indie fans.

On Thursday, July 21, Austinites can check out Pop Pistol live at Trophy’s with Austin’s own Ex Machina and Globster. Trophy’s is located at 2008 South Congress. Doors at 9:00pm. Show at 10:00pm. $5 cover for 21+. Visit the official Facebook event page here and on Do512 here.
