Despite having their roots in Mexico City, Chikita Violenta has spread their music across national borders into the U.S., Canada and Japan. The indie rock quartet who started in the early 2000s includes vocalist Luis Arce, keybordist Armando David, and guitarists Andrés Velasco and Esteban Suarez.
The band recently premiered the video for their newest single,“Roni”, which features a monster running through the forest. The song is part of their third album, TRE3S, released last month through Arts & Crafts. The album also includes the drumming talents of Wintersleep’s Loel Campbell, Most Serene Republic’s Tony Nesbitt and the vocals of Broken Social Scene’s Lisa Lobsinger. For a third year in a row, Chikita Violeta, will be traveling to Austin for South by Southwest (SXSW) where they will be performing three times during the festival at the following dates and locations:
