Austin got their first look at Guatemala born singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno at Pachanga Fest in 2009. It was at Pachanga Fest that we first met Moreno and saw her perform. Much to our surprise, we were blown away at her powerful but yet bluesy vocals could come from such a tiny Latina. While Moreno is bilingual, she is not the typical Latina pop princess one might expect. Moreno sounds like she is from another era, born 60 years too late (which she will tell you herself). Learn more about Moreno in a previous interview here.
Currently Moreno is on tour in support of her latest release, Illustrated Songs. She will be performing a headlining show in Austin on November 1 at Lamberts. We have two pairs of tickets to the show that we want to give to a couple of our lucky Austin Vida readers. All you have to do to be eligible to win is go to our Facebook page and click “Like” on the link for this post. Yes, that means your name can be entered more than once. We will give one pair of tickets away on Friday, October 21. The winner will be notified via Facebook email and on our Facebook wall. Good luck!
