Austin mayor Lee Leffingwell issued a proclamation declaring it “David Garza Day.” For over 20 years Garza has been one of Austin’s most talented and hardest working musicians. He has come a long ways since his days of busking on the West Mall at UT Austin in the early ’90s. Entering the university with a guitar scholarship- David soon became a sensation on the Austin music scene with Twang Twang Shock-A-Boom, then with the Love Beads. Shortly thereafter, Garza went solo and has embodied an artistic spirit that can best described as “magnificent” by many.
On behalf of the Austin Vida staff, we’d like to congratulate Garza on this well deserved recognition. Garza makes us proud to be Austinites and more importantly, proud to be Latino. Keep up the good work Mr. Garza.
