The sounds of Brazil will be taking over Flamingo Cantina this Friday, September 9 when singer-songwriter Luísa Maita performs. The award winning São Paulo native toured for the first time in the U.S. last year and garnered quite a buzz when NPR called her “The New Voice of Brazil.” Maita is also a 2011 Brazilian Music Award winner for “Best New Artist.” Take advantage of the rare opportunity to see Maita perform.
Co-headlining will be Suns of Orpheus (S.O.O.). Formed in Austin, Texas in the summer of 2011, S.O.O. is lead by the dynamic Frederico Geib, frontman of local Brazilian funk band Os Alquimistas and the more soulful F7 & The Hashashin. The S.O.O. is Geib’s self-labeled “pschedelic world music” band.
DJ Richard Henry will be spinning throughout the night between sets. Flamingo Cantina is located at 515 East 6th Street. Doors open at 9:00pm. 21+. Advance tickets for this show are available through Brown Paper Tickets here. Visit the official event post on Do512 here.
