Frank is Austin’s newest live music hot spot that serves gourmet hot dogs and more. On Thursday, September 29, the popular new venue will be serving up Latin rhythms and cumbias to go with those salchichas. Three of the region’s best Latin bands will be performing, including Los Bad Apples.
After a short hiatus and lineup changes, Los Bad Apples seem to be “back” and ready to get things going again. New lead singer Inné Aguilar may look familiar to local music enthusiasts as she is also a member of Austin indie-pop group The Shears. Los Bad Apples have performed at numerous festivals including Pachanga Fest and South by Southwest. Their fusion of cumbia, hip hop, R&B and salsa make for an incredible live show that is sure to get you dancing. Los Bad Apples open the night at 10:00pm.
Often compared to bands like Ozomatli and Antibalas, Bombasta is one of San Antonio’s premiere Latin bands. The “barrio big band” always bring the house down with their fusion of funk, cumbia, hip hop, salsa and Afrobeat. Bombasta perform at 11:00pm.
Closing the night’s showcase is Austin based Kiko Y La Banda. Formerly of Huerta Culture, frontman Kiko Villamizar is a staple in the Latin music scene in both Austin and San Antonio. Fans of Vallenato, Boléro and Colombian cumbia will want to stay late as Kiko Y La Banda perform at 12:00am.
