The Mexican film, Un Mundo Maravilloso (A Wonderful World), is a comedic drama directed by Luis Estrada. One night, Juan Pérez, the poorest of the poor, grabs the media’s attention as he climbs up the World Financial Center building and becomes a martyr against globalization. In an effort to protect his candidacy to the presidency of the World Bank, the Minister of Economy makes Pérez’s dream come true by lifting him out of poverty with a house, a car and a job. What started out that night turns into a nightmare for the Minister of Economy as other poor people follow Pérez’s example.
Un Mundo Maravilloso will be screened at 8:00 p.m. Sept. 18 at Takoba located at 1411 East 7th St.
