(8/21) Free Movie Night at Takoba presented by Cine Las Americas

Cine Las Americas is an Austin based non-profit that promotes cross-cultural understanding and growth by educating, entertaining and challenging diverse audiences through film and media arts. While the non-profit is most locally known for their spring film festival, Cine Las Americas remains active throughout the year with feature events and movie screenings. On Sunday, August 21, Cine Las Americas will be presenting a free screening of the Chilean film La Nana at Takoba.

La Nana (The Maid) is an award winning comedic-drama directed by Sebastián Silva. The film stars Catalina Saavedra as Raquel the maid who has served the Valdes family for over 23 years. After she begins to suffer dizzy spells from excessive use of chlorine in household cleaning products, the family she works for decides to hire more staff to assist her. It is at that point that Raquel begins to try and drive away the other staff in order to maintain her position the household.

Takoba is located at 1411 East 7th Street. The screening begins at 9:00pm. Early arrival is recommended to find your seat as well as place your food and beverage orders.
