(8/19) Preview: “El Bonaerense” at Esquina Tango

August 17, 2011 By Austin Vida Staff

Esquina Tango Cultural Society of Austin is a non-profit organization striving to spread Latin American culture and traditions in the city. The group offers a variety of classes to promote good health and make it fun, such as yoga, tango, aerobics and salsa. There also regular movie and documentary showings, focusing on Argentine and other Latin American societies.

Esquina Tango will be showing the Argentine film El Bonaerense. El Bonaerense tells the story of Zapa, a locksmith whose boss asks to open a safe at an office, and then gets imprisoned for robbery. Zapa’s father, a retired policeman, bails him out and sends him to Buenos Aires, where Zapa reinvents himself as a cop and starts a new life.

El Bonaerense will air August 19 at Esquina Tango, located at 209 Pedernales St. The film begins at 8:30 pm. There is a suggested donation of $5.
