For those of you who don’t know, popular Austin restaurant Frank is now a serious music venue. In addition to a new sound system and stage upgrades, Frank offers a scaled down late night menu to go with their drink offerings. Frank is booked by the promotion team that once booked The Ghost Room, Whitesiren Presents. What we love most about the new Frank is that they are making sure to include Latino bands and artists for their showcases. On Friday, August 12, Frank will feature two of our favorites and a cool up-and-comer.
Austin based indie-dream pop act Paraguay opens the show. Formed in February 2010, Paraguay was initially made up of vocalist/guitarist Jon Sanchez (The Summer Wardrobe, Roky Erickson), vocalist/guitarist Claire Hamilton (The Breathers, The Summer Wardrobe) and bassist Joshua Zarbo (Spoon, Monahans). Marc Fort (Schatzi, The Fuckemos) now plays bass for the group. Paraguay performs at 10:30pm.
Pop Pistol will be making their way up to Austin from San Antonio once again after performing with Monte Negro at Stubb’s recently. The atmospheric indie trio is one of San Antonio’s hottest indie bands to come out of the Alamo City since Girl In A Coma. The Texas Is Funny Records recording artist perform at 11:15pm.
Headlining the night’s showcase are the incredible La Guerrilla. The Latin gypsy-punk rockers are one of the best live bands in Austin. The band’s music features Latin percussion, horns, violin, guitar and at times, a megaphone. Currently the band just finished wrapping up their latest release, Adios LaLa Land?. Anyone who has seen La Guerrilla live before can attest that they are a must see. La Guerrilla perform at 12:00am.
