With an upgraded sound system and a recent rejuvenation of their live music presence, Hotel Vegas is sure to be at the forefront of local music in the coming year. We’ll be announcing our own Latin Music showcases to be held at Hotel Vegas in early 2012 after Free Week. Tonight, December 28, Hotel Vegas will present “Parrandon Vallenato Cumbiero Navidenio” with two of Austin’s best Latin bands: Huerta Culture and La Frenetika.
Huerta Culture mixes various sounds of Latino rhythms from Cuban son, salsa, Colombian cumbia and reggae fusion. The group refers to their sound as “psichocumbia reggaeska.” We think that pretty much sums it up. Huerta Culture perform at 10:00pm.
Austin-based La Frenetika is a group whose music fuses together elements of Son, Paseo, Merengue, Puya, Cumbia, Guapacha, Rumba and more. Having made their name playing international showcases, dance clubs and popular restaurants in the Austin area, La Frenetika have garnered a reputation for being able to bring people to their feet. La Frenetika perform at 12:00am.
