(11/25) Preview: Gran Sonido Music Group showcase at Frank

November 24, 2011 By Austin Vida Staff

Gran Sonido Music Group (GSMG) is an Austin based music collective that aims to help musicians and bands promote, book and connect with other entities that  may be of assistance with other musical services. Although GSMG’s initial focus was to help the local Latin music scene, the collective is open to all genres of music and talent. On Friday, November 25, GSMG will be presenting a Latin music showcase at Frank.

Opening the showcase is Houston’s CHangoMan, an innovative, multicultural music project created by Faustino “Tino” Ortega. CHangoMan’s music includes multiple varieties of rock, folk, pop, classical, Latin, funk, blues and R&B music. CHangoMan performs at 10:30pm.

Austin’s Son de Rey describe themselves as an “urban Tejano orchestra.” The group have shared the stage with many premiere acts such as Ruben Ramos, Michael Salgado and more. Their music is very danceable and a modern twist on old school Tejano. Son de Rey  perform at 11:15pm.

Headlining the night’s showcase is none other than Austin’s own Este Vato. Formed by the Reyna brothers, Rocky and Oscar, in 2008, Este Vato created a unique style of music that fuses together elements of rock and hip hop with traditional Latin rhythms. Este Vato perform at 12:00am.

Listen to Este Vato’s The Morningside EP below.

Frank is located at 407 Colorado Street. Doors open at 9:30pm. Cover is $6.  All ages are welcome. Visit the official Facebook event page here and on Do512 here.
