Joel Guzman and Sarah Fox are an Austin based duo’s music cannot be summed up easily. At first listen, one might guess Tejano or Conjunto. That would make sense given Guzman is thought to be one of the upper echelon accordionists in music. However, the duo is not your abuela’s everyday Conjunto band. Vocalist Sarah Fox brings a soulful voice to the mix and together their music treads the lines of Americana and Tejano. Guzman describes the music on their latest album, Conjuntazzo, as “Country Americana.”
On Friday, October 28, Joel Guzman and Sarah Fox will be performing a headlining show at Threadgill’s World Headquarters. Backing the duo on Friday will be Glenn Fukunaga (bass), Chris Searles (drums), Scott Martin (steel guitar) and Bradley Kopp (guitar). The Palacios Brothers open the show.
Watch Guzman and Fox perform their song “La Experiencia” below.
