San Antonio’s baddest barrio big band, Bombasta, return to Austin to perform a headlining show at Flamingo Cantina on Saturday, October 15. Fans of Ozomatli, Antibalas and Grupo Fantasma will love Bombasta’s fusion of cumbia, hip hop, reggae, salsa and Afrobeat. They are a hard hitting party band with a politically conscious state of mind. Be at Flamingo Cantina at midnight ready to party.
Opening the night will be Austin’s Bamako Airlines. An eight-piece Afropop orchestra, Bamako Airlines draws influences from their culturally diverse members to create a dynamic, contemporary perspective of African styles of music. Bamako Airlines perform at 9:30pm.
Setting up the stage for the headliners is Austin’s Manzanas Malas, or Los Bad Apples. Saturday’s performance from Manzanas Malas should be interesting as the band will feature Victoria Acosta on vocals. Be ready for ass shakin’ Latin rhythms fused together with hip hop, electronica and rock. Manzanas Malas perform at 11:00pm.
